"I will plead your case and take vengeance for you"

Text: Jeremiah 51:36

A PLEA FOR JUSTICE

Jerusalem was severely ravaged by Babylon. Zion represented the Temple. Jerusalem was the capital of Judah. Sometimes, the terms are used interchangeably. Both Zion and Jerusalem raised up pleas to the LORD for justice.

“‘Let the violence done to me and my flesh be upon Babylon,’
The inhabitant of Zion will say;
‘And my blood be upon the inhabitants of Chaldea!’
Jerusalem will say.
Therefore thus says the LORD:
‘Behold, I will plead your case and take vengeance for you.
I will dry up her sea and make her springs dry.'”
Jeremiah 51:35-36
