"Call to Me, and I will answer you"

Text: Jeremiah 33:3

ON-GOING TEACHING

One of the most-prized blessings from the LORD is His teaching. The word of the LORD was given to Jeremiah once again.

“Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah a second time,
while he was still shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
‘Thus says the LORD who made it,
the LORD who formed it to establish it (the LORD is His name):
‘Call to Me, and I will answer you,
and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.””
Jeremiah 33:1-3

1. “Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah a second time,
while he was still shut up in the court of the prison, saying”

a) Jeremiah was still in prison.

i) He had asked the LORD to explain to him why he was told
to buy the field in Anathoth, amidst war.

ii) The LORD had given him a lengthy answer to instruct him.

b) God also sought to teach Jeremiah further.

i) He may be in prison.

ii) But God was not confined, nor His word.

2. “Thus says the LORD who made it, the LORD who formed it to establish it
(the LORD is His name)”

a) The LORD is the Maker of all things.

b) He is the One who has formed and established the earth.

c) His name is LORD.

d) His Authority and Power extend to Jeremiah being in prison.

3. “Call to Me, and I will answer you,
and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know”

a) Jeremiah may have wondered why God had not released him from prison.

b) The LORD was encouraging the prophet to seek Him further in prayer.

i) Let Jeremiah call on the LORD.

ii) He will hear and answer him.

iii) He will show Jeremiah great and mighty things
which he had not known yet.

iv) Being in prison need not cause Jeremiah to lose heart and cease to pray.
