"Trust in the LORD forever"

Text: Isaiah 26:4

A NEW LEVEL OF TRUST

Those who lived in walled-cities place their trust in the defence system set up by the king. Strong walls and bulwarks were the order of the day. But in the new order of things, the LORD Himself assumes the responsibility of protecting His people. It would take great trust to find peace of heart and mind.

“You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Trust in the LORD forever,
For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.”
Isaiah 26:3-4

a) There was never perfect peace in the past.

b) There was always that fear of being assaulted by powerful enemy nations.

2. The new defence system.

b) The LORD promised salvation.

c) It would take a new level of trust in the LORD to find that peace.

3. How may this perfect peace come?

b) There must be full trust.

c) Only then would there be “perfect peace”.

4. The challenge issued.

i) The name of God is spelt out here as “YAH”.

ii) But while it is written as such, the pronouncement is still “LORD”.

b) There must be complete trust in the LORD.

i) In His promise of salvation.

ii) In His power.

iii) In His presence.

iv) In His protection.
