Bible Reading:
3 For I am the LORD your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I gave Egypt for your ransom,
Ethiopia and Seba in your place.4 Since you were precious in My sight,
You have been honored,
And I have loved you;
Therefore I will give men for you,
And people for your life.Isaiah 43:3-4
1. We have a new reading in Isaiah 43:4
a) It is good to read the old and new reading together
b) They wonderfully complement each other
2. How does God regard the people He has redeemed?
a) God considers us as “precious in His sight”
i) This is God’s personal regard for us
ii) How wonderful to read that we are precious in His sight!
b) God wants us to know that He has honoured us!
i) He has called us His children
ii) He knows us by name
iii) He is deeply committed to us as our Redeemer God
iv) How the heart is uplifted by this word of truth
c) God expresses His love for us openly
i) He is not ashamed of us
ii) He declares His love for His children openly
d) These are wonderfully glorious truths to ponder over again and again
3. A profound promise
“Therefore I will give men for you,
And people for your life.”Isaiah 43:4
a) Israel as a nation had many enemies
b) Powerful and wicked nations have always attacked Israel
c) God gave Israel a mighty promise in this text:
i) He will not abandon His people
ii) If enemies seek to kill His redeemed ones, they would lose their own lives
d) This principle was evidenced in Egypt
i) Egypt enslaved the children of Israel
It paid a high price for having enslaved them
ii) Egypt sent an army to force Israel to return
The mighty chariots and army were utterly destroyed
REJOICE IN THE LORD
Take time to rejoice in the Lord. Always give thanks to Him for His enduring mercy.
