"And let us not grow weary while doing good..."

Text: Galatians 6:9a

DOING GOOD DEEDS

This is another law of Christ that deserves careful attention. This is well taught in the other epistles of the apostle Paul (Ephesians 2:10; Titus 3:4-5,8).

And let us not grow weary while doing good,
for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all,
especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Galatians 6:9-10

1. “Doing good”

a) Encouragement given not to become weary.
b) Never lose heart in doing good.
c) In due season there will be a good harvest.

2. Opportunities to do good to all

a) Opportunities
i) Sometimes they present themselves.
ii) We just have to recognise the opportunities that present themselves.
iii) These ought to be seized for the purpose of doing good.
iv) This includes doing good to those who are outside the faith.
b) “Especially to those who are of the household of faith”
i) This is a reference to fellow-believers.
ii) Sometimes hardship is experienced.
iii) There should be an even greater sense of commitment to care for those of the household of faith.

GOD’S WORKMANSHIP

God’s workmanship in the life of the true believer in Christ is beautifully stated in the following text.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
for good works, which God prepared beforehand that
we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10

1. We were created to do good works.

2. God has foreordained that all who believe in Christ should walk in this light.

3. We display that we are God’s workmanship when we do good works.

4. Doing good deeds should be the most natural thing for every believer in whom God works.
