"I Myself will search for My sheep"

Text: Ezekiel 34:11

GOD’S PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT

The Lord made a glorious announcement to Ezekiel. Since the shepherds had failed in their jobs miserably, He would be personally involved in rescuing His flock.

“For thus says the Lord God:
‘Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep
and seek them out.
As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day
he is among his scattered sheep,
so will I seek out My sheep
and deliver them from all the places
where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day.'”
Ezekiel 34:11-12

1. A heartening announcement.

a) The Lord Himself would do the shepherding work personally.

b) The appointed shepherds had shown great irresponsibility.

c) He would personally:

i) Search for His sheep.

ii) He will seek them out wherever they may be scattered.

2. The Lord’s example of being a Shepherd.

a) A true shepherd would devote time to his flock.

i) He would check by numbering them.

ii) He would notice those who were missing from the flock.

iii) He would immediately seek those who had gone astray.

b) The Lord would take on this responsibility.

i) He would seek His sheep.

ii) He would deliver them out of their troubles.

iii) He would seek them in both fair and foul weather.

iv) Even if the weather is stormy with dark clouds, He would seek His lost sheep.
