"I am against the shepherds"

Text: Ezekiel 34:10

GOD WILL TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE SHEPHERDS

The Lord continued to address the shepherds. God warned that He would take severe action against them because of their evil deeds.

“Therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the Lord!
Thus says the Lord God:
‘Behold, I am against the shepherds,
and I will require My flock at their hand;
I will cause them to cease feeding the sheep,
and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more;
for I will deliver My flock from their mouths,
that they may no longer be food for them.'”
Ezekiel 34:9-10

1. The Lord addressed the shepherds:

a) Forthrightly

b) Sternly

c) This word was specially addressed to them.

2. The stance God had taken.

a) God declared that He is against the shepherd.

b) He would cause the shepherds to understand their accountability.

3. Stern actions outlined.

a) The shepherds would cease functioning as shepherds.

i) They would lose their positions as “shepherds”.

ii) They would no longer be allowed to indulge themselves at the expense of the flock.

iii) They would be stripped of all authority as shepherds.

iv) They cannot abuse their authority anymore!

3. God promised deliverance.

a) His flock would be delivered from these bad shepherds.

b) He had plans to deliver His flock from their oppressors far and wide.

c) The shepherds cannot feed off God’s flock anymore.
