"Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths." Psalm 25:4

Text: Exodus 10 : 1-2

DEEP LESSONS OF LIFE

Wise is the person who learns the lessons of life well! Moses learned many profound lessons even as he stood as a servant of the Lord! The children of Israel were supposed to learn similar lessons of faith and trust in God!

DEEP LESSONS THAT GOD HIMSELF TEACHES

Teachers play a vital role in disseminating knowledge to their pupils. There is no greater Teacher than God Himself. He is decidedly the most creative and innovative Teacher of all time! The plagues that He sent all had intended lessons!

“Now the LORD said to Moses, ‘Go in to Pharaoh;
for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants,
that I may show these signs of Mine before him,
and that you may tell in the hearing of your son
and your son’s son the mighty things I have done in Egypt,
and My signs which I have done among them,
that you may know that I am the LORD.”
EXODUS 10:1-2

1. “I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants”

How should we understand this statement? Let us consider the following thoughts:-

a) Self-will

Pharaoh had of his own volition hardened his heart!

b) God’s Part

God may be said to retain the status quo of the Pharaoh’s heart for a purpose!

i) He had other signs that He had not yet revealed.
ii) Pharaoh’s heart must remain hardened until God’s signs were fully displayed.
God may not be charged with sin even if He hardened Pharaoh’s heart for His
Divine purposes!

2. Lesson Goals of the Signs of God

God, the Master-Teacher had planned out His lesson-goals very carefully! The signs had at least two vital goals:-

a) Knowledge of God
That All may know that He is indeed the LORD
b) For posterity’s sake
The Children of Israel would have a rich historical and spiritual heritage!
