“It shall be established forever like the moon…” Psalm 89:37a

EARTHLY KINGDOMS

History has recorded the existence of many kingdoms. Some were large enough to be called “empires”. The Bible made mention of some kingdoms:-

1. Egyptians

2. Assyrians

3. Babylonians

4. Medo-Persians

5. Greece

6. Romans

But none of them exists today! No human being can establish a kingdom that will last forever.

THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE MESSIANIC KINGDOM

God promised that He would make the throne of The Seed of David to last forever. He Himself will establish it.

“It shall be established forever like the moon,
Even like the faithful witness in the sky.”
Psalm 89:37

1. “It shall be established”

a) This is God’s solemn word.
b) He will fulfill this solemn word of promise.
c) He Himself will see to its establishment.

2. “Established forever”

a) It will take Divine involvement.
b) It will take Divine power to establish this Messianic Kingdom.

3. “Like the moon, even like the faithful witness in the sky”

a) This kingdom was compared to the moon.
b) It is a luminary that will function like a “faithful witness in the sky” testifying to God’s power.
