Bible Reading:

1 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.

2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.

Isaiah 43:1-2

1. We have a new reading in Isaiah 43:2

a) Enjoy the new reading

b) Be encouraged by the new truths added

c) Be excited as we discover a precious promise from God

2. Appreciation of this new reading

a) It is an extension of God’s plan of Redemption

b) It is an explanation of how God relates to all who are redeemed

c) It brings great encouragement to the heart to know how God cares for us

3. There will always be problems in life

a) Most problems are “common” ones

b) Some problems are “chronic” ones and difficult to manage

c) But God has a special word of promise to His redeemed ones no matter what kind of problems we have to face

4. Appreciating Biblical Imagery

a) Problems are sometimes described as

i) Flood Waters

ii) Deep Rivers that are hard to cross

b) Problems are also described as

i) Burning fire

ii) Scorching flames

5. When we go through deep waters

a) God promises that He will be with us

b) The deep waters will not overflow and drown us

6. When we have to face fiery trials of life

a) We need not fear the heat of the flames

b) God will be there to give us His protection

HOW MAY WE RESPOND?

1. Treasure these promises from God afresh

2. Trust in God when we face challenges in life

3. Train the heart and mind to focus on faith in God more and more
