Praising God For Another Great Conference

Our hearts are filled with great joy to have experienced yet another God-blessed Youth Conference. This year’s series of messages on the theme of “My Church” challenged many of us to consider and re-think our understanding of the Church. The lessons not only gave us new insights into how we should regard the Lord’s church, but they also challenged us to find a definite and active place in it. After four solid days of hearing His word, many young people consecrated their lives to the Lord! Praise God for His Spirit in moving hearts and leading them to make this decision to rise up to be part of His people. Let’s rejoice and give thanks for His abundant grace poured out at conference.

Three Significant Lessons To Reflect Over

At the end of every conference, it is good for us to reflect on what we have learnt. There are three lessons that impacted me.

1. Having A Great Passion For Knowledge Of God’s Word

“But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss … for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord”
Philippians 3:7-8

The apostle Paul wrote of his personal passion to constantly gain more knowledge. He was prepared to lose anything and everything that was acquired by him. He was willing to count them as rubbish so that he might obtain further the supreme knowledge of the Lord Jesus. He was not afraid to suffer any form of tribulation so that this knowledge of Christ may be his. Let’s seek to be passionate about obtaining a deeper knowledge of the Lord and His word. Let’s spare no effort to achieve this.

2. Reflecting The Lord’s Glory

“Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.”

Isaiah 60:1

God meant His people to have His glory. The glory of the Lord is likened to the sun rising. God has given His glory to His people. They were meant to reflect His glory in all that they did. The Lord’s light was to shine in their hearts. Let us also be personally challenged to reflect the Lord’s glory in all that we do in life and ministry. Let’s pray that we can display His glory.

3. Having A Right Attitude To Press On

“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected, but I press on”
Philippians 3:12

Another important lesson learnt was the challenge to press on despite what may happen in our life. Paul wrote of how he saw himself as someone who had not attained all things in life. He saw himself instead as a Christian who still needed to press on. Young people, let’s seek to forget all the failures and successes of our past and determine to reach forward to the next level of our spirituality. Let’s not deviate nor be distracted by anything or anyone. Let’s set our sights on heaven and just be fully driven to obtain the prize of the upward call of God.
