BLESSING THE LORD AT OUR 40+7th CHURCH ANNIVERSARY

This year’s anniversary was indeed a wonderful time of blessing the Lord and listening to His word.  Yes, it was very different and yet, there was a special sense of joy as we gathered together as one, whether physically or online, to celebrate our 40+7th anniversary. We are indeed thankful to the Lord for His hand in watching over us, sustaining and blessing us these many years.   Pastor brought a word from Psalm 144 that was most encouraging.  He spoke from King David’s personal testimony of how the Lord had blessed him in the battles of his life.   He was able to do so because God as His Rock trained him to fight his wars.  There was the Lord’s involvement in his life.

Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trained my hands for war, my lovingkindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer…”   Psalm 144:1

The Lord had been David’s fortress, his high tower, his deliverer and more.  The use of the personal pronoun depicts the idea that the Lord was very personal to him.  The Lord in practical terms trained him to fight and be victorious in war.  David blessed the Lord who had personally been his strength and deliverer in his life.  We too should continue to bless the Lord as we remember His blessings.

PRAYING FOR THE NEXT GENERATION TO GROW UP WELL

One of the things that Pastor highlighted was on praying for the next generation.

That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youths; that our daughters may be as pillars, sculptured in palace style.”  Psalm 144:12

David not only prayed for deliverance but he prayed specially for the next generation.

  1. Praying for young men to grow well as plants

Plants that are growing well would show that they are healthy.  They would be vigorous and full of vitality. Pastor spoke of how young people tend to be soft nowadays. That is not what young Christian men should be.   They are to grow up well both physically and spiritually.   They are to grow strong in the Lord and in His word.  It is most appropriate for young men to be seen as tender plants that are still growing.  The challenge is to humbly see yourselves as plants, with roots needing to go deep in His word.  Young men, do make full use of your youth to grow in faith and in strength.  Let’s pray that the Lord will indeed help you grow up well as plants.

  1. Praying for young ladies to be well sculptured pillars

One of the things that will stand out in any palace would be its sculptured pillars.   They are well polished and sturdy.  Pillar are not only meant to be beautiful.   They are to be strong too.   Young ladies are not meant just to be beautiful on the outside.   They are also to be strong within like pillars.   It takes hard work and finesse for gifted crafts men to sculpture beautiful pillars in grand palace style.   In a far greater way, the Lord and His word can work in the hearts and lives of young ladies till they become well sculptured pillars.   Young ladies, let’s pray that the Lord will help you to become such pillars of beauty and strength.
