"The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed"

Day 67 – Psalm 9

“The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed” Psalm 9:9a

THE WICKED IN THE WORLD

The problem of wickedness will never be fully resolved! As long as sin man abuses his powers and privileges, evil will be on the surface of the earth!

THE OPPRESSED IN THE WORLD

Sadly, there will also be “the oppressed”. These are the victims of the schemes of the wicked! Wherein may they find justice and refuge? Great comfort may be found in the following text!

“The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble,
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.”
Psalm 9:9-10

1. “The LORD also will be a refuge”

a) Indeed, God will be a refuge for the oppressed.
b) In times of trouble, the LORD would be found as the best Refuge for the oppressed.

2. “Those who know Your name”

a) His name is excellent in all the earth (Psalm 8:1, 9).
b) His Name is indeed “Most High” (Psalm 9:2b).
c) His name is known by many!
i) As a covenant-keeping LORD
ii) As a Just Judge
iii) As a Shield
iv) As a Refuge for the oppressed.

3. Deep Assurance

a) The Lord has never forsaken those who seek Him.
b) He has always heard their cries for help.
c) He has proven Himself over and over.

There is no reason to lose confidence in the eternal God as our Refuge (Deuteronomy 31:27)
