Day 312 – Psalm 69

“I will praise the name of God with a song…” Psalm 69:30a

PRAYER AND PRAISE

Prayer and Praise should go together very closely! David could not imagine just praying for deliverance without the appropriate giving of thanks to God!

“I will praise the name of God with a song,
And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.”
Psalm 69:30

1. “I will praise”

a) In anticipation of God’s deliverance.
b) In faith that God would indeed set the believer on high.

2. “The name of God”

a) It is God and He alone who can answer prayer.
b) His name ought to be lifted up on high and due praise ought to be given.

3. “With a song”

a) This was David’s natural element.
b) He was wonderfully gifted.
c) He would use the medium of songs
i) To worship God.
ii) To extol Him.

4. “And will magnify Him with thanksgiving”

The idea of magnifying God includes the following:-

a) It is acknowledging who God is.
b) It is acknowledging all that God had done… and will do.
c) It is ascribing to God what is due to Him (Psalm 29).
d) There must be genuine thanksgiving in the heart.
