Day 81

"LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble."

Day 81 – Psalm 10

“LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble.” Psalm 10:17a

A WONDERFUL REAFFIRMATION OF FAITH

We have a wonderful reaffirmation of faith in the Lord at the conclusion of this psalm!

“LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble;
You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear,
To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
That the man of the earth may oppress no more.”
Psalm 10:17-18

1. No more doubts

a) Beginning thoughts

The psalmist may have begun with “Why do you stand afar off, O LORD?” (Psalm 10:1a)

b) Concluding thoughts

The psalmist ends on a confident and triumphant note!

2. Faith in God is gloriously reaffirmed

a) God has heard the desire of the humble.
b) He will do justice:
i) To the fatherless
ii) To the oppressed

3. “You will prepare their heart”

a) One part is to learn how to wait on the Lord for justice to be served.
b) Another part is to exercise trust in Him though the wicked may seem to prevail.
c) A third part is to have a heart that anticipates the triumph of right over wrong.
d) A fourth part is to have the heart learning how to rejoice in the Lord (Psalm 9:1-2).

4. “That the man of the earth may oppress no more”

a) This is an addition to the thought found in another psalm

“That the nations may know themselves to be but men.”
Psalm 9:20

b) God will see to it that man will realize that he is but man and he cannot oppress the helpless at will, without suffering Divine wrath outpoured! Oppression is something that God will always oppose!
