Text: Luke 8: 40-42
MANY LESSONS FOR THE DISCIPLES TO LEARN
1. There were many lessons the Lord Jesus wanted His disciples to learn.
2. The question raised by the Disciples reflect the fact that they did not know the Lord Jesus very well yet!
“Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water and they obey Him!” Luke 8:25
3. Some Lessons that must be learned well!
a. The Lord Jesus had full power and authority:
i. Over the elements of the weather (Luke 8:22-25).
ii. Over powerful demons (Luke 8:26-39).
b. The Ministry of the Lord Jesus
i. He focused on teaching the word of God (Luke 8:4-10).
ii. He was totally devoted to God’s work (Luke 8:19-21).
RETURN TO GALILEE
1. The Lord Jesus was rejected by the Gadarenes.
2. He then returned to His Galilean ministry.
3. He was welcomed by the Galileans.
a. They welcomed Him.
b. They were, in fact, waiting for His return (Luke 8:40).
A RULER OF THE LOCAL SYNAGOGUE
1. Not all the religious leaders opposed the Lord Jesus.
2. This local ruler of the synagogue did not oppose the Lord.
a. Jairus was called “the ruler of the synagogue” (Luke 8:41a).
b. He was humble.
i. He fell down at the feet of the Lord Jesus (Luke 8:41b).
ii. He begged the Lord to come to his house (Luke 8:41c).
c. His need:
i. He had a daughter who was only 12 years old (Luke 8:42a).
ii. She was so ill; “she was dying” (Luke 8:42b).
THE GRACIOUS RESPONSE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
1. The Lord Jesus understood how Jairus must have felt.
2. He was willing to accede to his request.
3. He followed Jairus as he led the Lord Jesus to his home.
THE MULTITUDE FOLLOWED CLOSELY
1. They had welcomed the Lord.
2. They had waited for Him.
3. Naturally, they followed Him closely (Luke 8:42c).
a. They had seen Jairus begging the Lord Jesus.
b. He had requested the Lord to heal his dying daughter.
c. Would the Lord Jesus be able to fulfil Jairus’ request?
d. This was a very urgent request!

c. 主耶稣会不会成全睚鲁的请求？
