Text: Genesis 40: 16-23
MEDITATION
Genesis 40:16-23
16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, “I also was in my dream, and there were three white baskets on my head.
17 In the uppermost basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”
18 So Joseph answered and said, “This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days.
19 Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from you.”
20 Now it came to pass on the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
21 Then he restored the chief butler to his butlership again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.
22 But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them. 23 Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The Chief Baker
a. He had listened to Joseph’s interpretation.
b. He liked what he had heard.
c. He told Joseph his dream too.
d. He thought that his own dream would also have a favourable interpretation.
2. The dream of the Chief Baker
a. He dreamt of three baskets on his head.
b. There were all kinds of baked things.
c. Birds of the air came and ate up everything.
3. The Interpretation of the dream
a. In three days, Pharaoh will order his execution.
b. He would be hanged and his corpse would be eaten by scavenger birds.
THE FULFILMENT OF THE DREAMS
1. The Pharaoh celebrated his birthday.
2. He restored the Butler as his cup-bearer. He hanged the baker.
3. But the Chief Butler forgot all about Joseph in prison.

《创世记 40：16-23》
16膳长见梦解得好，就对约瑟说：“我在梦中见我头上顶着三筐白饼，
17极上的筐子里有为法老烤的各样食物，有飞鸟来吃我头上筐子里的食物。”
18约瑟说：“你的梦是这样解：三个筐子就是三天，
19三天之内，法老必斩断你的头，把你挂在木头上，必有飞鸟来吃你身上的肉。”
20到了第三天，是法老的生日，他为众臣仆设摆筵席，把酒政和膳长提出监来，
21使酒政官复原职，他仍旧递杯在法老手中，
22但把膳长挂起来，正如约瑟向他们所解的话。23酒政却不记念约瑟，竟忘了他。
