Text: Genesis 18: 10-12
MEDITATION
Genesis 18:10-12
10 And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.”
(Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.)
11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.
12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The promise of a son to Abraham and Sarah
a. The promise of a son was first given to Abraham (Genesis 17).
b. This promise was reiterated; this time within earshot of Sarah.
c. This promise was given with great certainty.
2. Sarah and Abraham
a. Both of them were quite old.
b. They were described as “well-advanced in age”.
i. Abraham was nearly a hundred years old.
ii. Sarah was ninety years old and certainly past child-bearing age.
3. “Sarah laughed within herself”
a. When Abraham heard this word of promise, he laughed out loud.
b. Sarah sought to stifle her laughter.
c. She reasoned:
i. Abraham was a centenarian and she was ten years younger.
ii. How could they possibly have a son at their age?
d. Both Abraham and Sarah struggled with the problem of applying faith effectively.

11 亚伯拉罕和撒拉年纪老迈,撒拉的月经已断绝了。12 撒拉心里暗笑,说:“我既已衰败,我主也老迈,岂能有这喜事呢?”
