MEDITATION
Genesis 10:1-5
1 Now this is the genealogy of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. And sons were born to them after the flood.
2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
3 The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5 From these the coastland peoples of the Gentiles were separated into their lands, everyone according to his language, according to their families, into their nations.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Genealogy of the sons of Noah
a. The Lord had promised to bless.
b. They were fruitful and multiplying.
2. Generations noted
a. Noah
b. Japheth (Sons were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras)
3. The line of Japheth was briefly noted (Genesis 10:2-5)
4. The idea of “the Gentiles”
a. The word “Gentile” means “the nations”.
There is nothing “bad or sinister” in the original use of the word.
b. They developed their own:
i. Lands
ii. Languages
iii. Families
c. They became “nations”.
5. The promise of blessing
The sons of Noah became distinctive groups of people. The results of blessing from the Lord led to successful repopulation of the earth.
