Text: Genesis 9: 24-29
MEDITATION
Genesis 9:24-29
24 So Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him.
25 Then he said:“Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brethren.”
26 And he said: “Blessed be the LORD, The God of Shem, And may Canaan be his servant.
27 May God enlarge Japheth,And may he dwell in the tents of Shem; And may Canaan be his servant.”
28 And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.
29 So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years; and he died.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Noah’s response to Ham’s action
a. He placed a curse on Canaan.
i. This was the son of Ham.
ii. Effectively, Noah cursed his son Ham, with the result that Canaan would suffer too.
iii. He would be “a servant” to his brother Shem.
b. The mention of being a servant:
i. It would be a lowly place in life.
ii. Ham had shown that he had no sense of regard and dignity.
iii. His son(s) would have this same problem of being churlish.
2. Noah’s response to Shem and Japheth
a. Noah was unwise and wrong in getting drunk.
b. He appreciated what Shem and Japheth did to protect his dignity.
c. He gave them a blessing that would see them rise above the status of Ham.

24 挪亚醒了酒，知道小儿子向他所做的事，
25 就说：“迦南当受咒诅！必给他弟兄做奴仆的奴仆。”
26 又说：“耶和华闪的神是应当称颂的！愿迦南做闪的奴仆。
27 愿神使雅弗扩张，使他住在闪的帐篷里，又愿迦南做他的奴仆。”
28 洪水以后，挪亚又活了三百五十年。29 挪亚共活了九百五十岁就死了。
