STANDING AGAINST THE FORCES OF EVIL

The Church Is At War

There are great demonic powers battling against the Church today. We are fighting an invisible enemy that is doing all it can to destroy us. Sometimes, we can be so caught up with our daily routine of life and ministry that we forget that we are at war.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Ephesians 6:12

Paul saw this battle against the forces of evil as a titanic struggle. Since the beginning of time, Satan and his hordes have been at war with us. We are fighting against an invisible army that is organised, powerful, wicked and merciless. They will do all they can to lead us astray, cause us to be discouraged and to despair. They will seek to cause division among us. We must seek to be able to stand as one against the onslaughts of the evil one and his armies.

The Challenge To Stand Our Ground Together

The challenge for every Christian is to be able to stand against the wiles and schemes of the evil one. Our challenge is to be able to stand together against them, to withstand in the evil day and, having gone through all, to stand victoriously. How can we go about doing this together?

1. Learning To Be Strong In The Lord Together

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”
Ephesians 6:10

The command from Paul is for all his brethren to be strong. Our source of strength is found in the Lord and in His superabundant and dynamic power. We are not just to be strong. We are to be strengthened in the full extent of His might. All of us need to be strong together as one solid army of God. If one of us is weak, we will be venerable to the attacks of the evil one. Young people, WE MUST learn to be strong. WE MUST seek the Lord and pray that He will strengthen our faith and life.

2. Putting On The Armour Of God Together

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
Ephesians 6:11

It takes strength to put on the whole armor of God. Without it, we will not be able to put on the panoply. Our challenge is also to learn how to use the spiritual weapons that the Lord has given to us to fight off the deception of the evil one. WE MUST know how to use each piece of armour that the Lord has provided for us. WE MUST know how to use it as one cohesive whole. Let’s train hard that we may know how to use the armour of God well. Let’s seek to stand together as a victorious army of God.
