Seeing the glory of God

As we celebrated our 50 + 2 anniversary last Sunday, I could not help but see the glory of God in our midst. We have been learning about the glory of God over the past two months. It is wonderful to see how everything culminated in our anniversary celebrations. I did not want to approach this occasion as just another celebration. I sought to make this event significant and memorable. My focus this time was on seeing the glory of God and how the ministry of the Holy Spirit was working among us (2 Corinthians 3:8).

The same spirit of faith

1. Worship

  1. We thank God that as a church, we can have the same spirit of faith (2 Corinthians 4:13–15).
  2. We have an objective faith based on the Scriptures and a subjective faith…a spirit that has been caught by many, which is not easily attained.
  3. The grace of God has been evidenced in many of our lives over all these years.
  4. It was wonderful to see the entire church coming together to give abundant thanksgiving and glory to God.

2. Combined choir item

  1. The combined choir gave glory to God with the song item, “Song for the Nations”.
  2. They sang with the same spirit of faith, singing about what we have been as a church.
  3. Bethany has been sharing the Lord’s light, His Word, healing and power to the nations.
  4. We have been singing the Lord’s song to them…to give Him glory over all the world.

3. Associate Pastors

  1. We thank God for Moses and Eugene, who have been raised to serve as Associate Pastors.
  2. I appreciate Pastor’s prayer for them that the Lord would give them the spirit of wisdom and the spirit of faith as they continue to serve Him (Proverbs 1:23; 2 Corinthians 4:13).
  3. May the Lord bless them and their ministries for His glory.

Never lose heart

  1. I thank God for the uplifting message that we received from Pastor.
  2. He challenged us from Paul’s words of encouragement that we should not lose heart.
  3. While the outward man is perishing, the inward man is being renewed daily (2 Corinthians 4:16).
    1. Lessons of life from the Scriptures can renew our hearts internally and spiritually.
    2. Inspiration is received from brethren who share their testimonies, friendship and fellowship.
    3. Faith in God….having the same spirit of faith in facing trials and supporting His work.
    4. Eternity in mind as we see and find hope in the eternal weight of glory in heaven.
  4. No matter what, the challenge is for us never to lose heart and be renewed in LIFE.

Inspiring stories

We praise God for the gift of the book titled, “My Story”. It was wonderful to read about the meaningful testimonies of Beng Hoe, Christina, Kevin and Lay Eng. As they faced life-threatening situations, God manifested His grace and mercy in multiple ways that are truly profound yet real. All of them could not help but give bountiful glory and thanksgiving to God. Their stories were truly inspiring and uplifting. What a glorious 50 + 2 Anniversary! It has been our privilege to catch a greater glimpse of the glory of God in Bethany. Let us stand in awe of the Lord and give Him all the glory He rightly deserves.
