A Refuge in Times of Trouble

INTRODUCTION

Three personal commitments to consider as we commence our 40+4 year of ministry as a Church!

A. PRAISE

A Personal commitment

1. To offer praise to God

2. To offer praise with the whole heart   (Psalm 9:1)

3. To sing praises to the Lord’s name   (Psalm 9:2)

4. To be glad in the Lord   (Psalm 9:2)

B. PROCLAMATION

A second personal commitment

1. To tell people about God

2. To proclaim His marvellous works

3. Content of proclamation

a) God’s Presence   (Psalm 9:3)
b) God as the Righteous Judge   (Psalm 9:4, 8)
i) Rebuked the nations
ii) Destroyed the wicked
iii) Blotted out their name forever   (Psalm 9:5-6)
iv) The wicked is snared by his own works   (Psalm 9:16)
v) The wicked shall be turned into hell   (Psalm 9:17)

C. PRAYER

A third personal commitment

1. Turning to the Lord for Refuge   (Psalm 9:9)

2. Trusting in the Lord   (Psalm 9:10)

3. He does not forsake those who seek Him   (Psalm 9:10)

4. He does not forget the cry of the humble   (Psalm 9:12)

5. Pleading the mercy of the LORD   (Psalm 9:13)

6. That God would arise

a) Let not man prevail
b) Let the nations be judged
c) Put them in fear
d) Let them know themselves to be but men   (Psalm 9:19-20)
