THOSE WHO KNOW YOUR NAME WILL PUT THEIR TRUST IN YOU

Text: Psalm 9

(I) THOSE WHO KNOW YOUR NAME

Two names may be highlighted:-

1. LORD (Psalm 9:1)

2. Most High (Psalm 9:2)

(II) WHAT GOD’S NAME STANDS FOR

1. A King

“You sat on the throne judging in righteousness ” Psalm 9:4b

“He has prepared His throne for judgment” Psalm 9:7a

2. A Judge

“He shall judge the world in righteousness,And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness” Psalm 9:8

3. A Refuge

“The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in time of trouble.” Psalm 9:9

(III) THE DEEDS OF GOD

1. Destroys the wicked

“You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever.” Psalm 9:5

a) Rebuke is first given

b) Repentance is expected

c) Destruction of the unrepentant wicked

2. Remembers the Poor

“When He avenges blood, He remembers them;He does not forget the cry of the humble.” Psalm 9:12

a) He avenges the poor

b) He remembers their plight

c) He does not forget the pitiful cries of the humble

(IV) TRUST IN THE LORD

“And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion!Declare His deeds among the people.That I may tell of Your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion.I will rejoice in Your salvation.” Psalm 9:10-11, 14

1. Knowledge of God

“He does not forsake anyone who seeks Him” Psalm 9:10a

2. Salvation in God

“I will rejoice in Your salvation” Psalm 9:14b

3. Declaration of the glorious deeds of God

“Declare His deeds among the people” Psalm 9:11b
