(I) IN PRAISE OF GOOD MOTHERS

1. Children

“Her children rise up and call her blessed…” Proverbs 31:28a

2. Husband

“…Her husband also, and he praises her” Proverbs 31:28b

3. Her works

“…And let her own works praise her in the gates.” Proverbs 31:31

(II) IN APPROPRIATE APPRECIATION

1. Of her contribution to the welfare of the household (Proverbs 31:10-27)

“She watches over the ways of her household,And does not eat the bread of idleness.” Proverbs 31:27

2. Of her concern for the poor and needy

“She extends her hand to the poor,Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.” Proverbs 31:20

3. Of her personal stature

“She opens her mouth with wisdom,And on her tongue is the law of kindness.” Proverbs 31:26

(III) A GREAT CHALLENGE TO ALL MOTHERS

1. To recognize the challenges found in the role of a mother

2. To rise to the challenge of being a good mother

3. To win the praise of all by the virtues she displays

a) Strength (Proverbs 31:17)

b) Honour (Proverbs 31:25)

c) Fear of the Lord (Proverbs 31:30)
