DESOLATE AND AFFLICTED

THE TROUBLES OF LIFE

David found himself in many distressing situations in his life. Being an anointed king of Israel did not mean that he would be spared from problems.

16 Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me,

For I am desolate and afflicted.

17 The troubles of my heart have enlarged;

Bring me out of my distresses!

18 Look on my affliction and my pain,

And forgive all my sins.     Psalm 25:16-18

d) Enemies that threatened war

  1. Personal problems

a) Feeling desolated

b) Feeling afflicted

c) Feeling distress

d) Increment of troubles

e) Sin that brought sorrow and pain

THE CHALLENGE TO PRAY

  1. The wisest thing to do was to seek God in prayer
  1. Seeking God earnestly was the right thing to do
  1. Finding rest and reassurance from God through prayer
