HE INCREASED HIS PEOPLE STRONGLY

Text: Psalm 105

GOD’S MIGHTY HAND INVOLVED

Two pairs of hands were noted by the Psalmist in this Psalm. Of the two, God’s hand is of greater significance.

20 The king sent and released him,
The ruler of the people let him go free.

21 He made him lord of his house,
And ruler of all his possessions,

22 To bind his princes at his pleasure,
And teach his elders wisdom.

23 Israel also came into Egypt,
And Jacob dwelt in the land of Ham.

24 He increased His people greatly,
And made them stronger than their enemies.

25 He turned their heart to hate His people,
To deal craftily with His servants.     Psalm 105:20-25

  1. The hand of the Pharaoh

a) He released Joseph from prison

b) He also made Joseph “lord” of his house

c) Joseph was made a “ruler” of all his possessions

d) He was given power and authority even over the princes of Egypt

  1. The hand of God

a) Jacob and his family came to dwell in Egypt with Joseph

b) God increased the population of Israel significantly

c) Israel became stronger than Egypt

d) He caused the Egyptians to deal with the children of Israel with hatred and cunning
