GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD

Text: Psalm 105

CELEBRATING BETHANY’S ANNIVERSARY

We will be celebrating Bethany’s 50+2 Anniversary on 24 August 2025 at Shangri La. Let us heed the advice of the Psalmist recorded in this Psalm.

1 Oh, give thanks to the LORD!

Call upon His name;

Make known His deeds among the peoples!

2 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;

Talk of all His wondrous works!

3 Glory in His holy name;

Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!     Psalm 105:1-3

  1. Giving thanks to the Lord

a) We have every reason to give thanks to God

b) The Lord has blessed us in so many obvious ways

  1. How can we give thanks appropriately?

a) By calling upon the Lord

b) By making known His deeds

c) By singing to the Lord

d) By talking about His wondrous works

GLORYING IN GOD’S NAME

  1. This is a step-up from singing to the Lord
  1. To glory in God’s name is a profound concept

FEATURES OF GLORYING IN GOD’S NAME

  1. There is an element of great rejoicing in God
  1. There is a special sense of pride when we speak of the Lord

a) Pride of belonging to the Lord as His people

b) Comfort and strength in our relationship with God

c) Confidence and certainty exude because of glorying in His name
