THE BRIGHTNESS OF GOD’S GLORY

A GLORIOUS DESCRIPTION OF THE LORD JESUS
We have a truly glorious description of the Lord Jesus in the following text:
1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. Hebrews 1:1-4
- A brief Presentation of the Person of the Lord Jesus
a) He is God’s only-begotten Son
b) He is also the Word of God
c) He is the Heir of all things
d) He is the Co-Creator of the universe
e) He is the brightness of God’s glory
f) He upholds the world by the word of His power
- A brief Appreciation of what the Lord Jesus has done
a) He has personally dealt with our sins
b) He has purged our sins
i) There is forgiveness
ii) There is pardon from the guilt of sin
iii) There is also removal of the power of sin from our life
- The Current Ministry of the Lord Jesus
a) He sits at the right hand of the Majesty of God
b) He sits as One with all authority of heaven and earth
APPROPRIATE RESPONSES
What are some appropriate responses we must consider? Let us consider the following:
- To offer worship and praise
- To appreciate our Saviour even more deeply
- To walk with Him faithfully
- To serve Him with all our heart!
May we learn to treasure the Lord Jesus as the glorious Son of Man and Son of God!
