THE BLESSING OF ONENESS

Text: Ephesians 4

UNITY IN THE CHURCH

One of the most precious blessings God has given to the Church is “Oneness.” This was something the Lord Jesus prayed for (Cf. John 17). The Apostle Paul wrote about this Oneness in the following text.

1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,

with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,

endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;

one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.     Ephesians 4:1-6

WALKING WORTHY OF OUR CALLING

The Apostle Paul reminded the Ephesian Church to walk worthy of the Lord’s calling. The challenge was to “keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

LET US GUARD THIS SPECIAL SENSE OF ONENESS

What does it take to guard this Oneness? It would take forbearing and love to keep this bond of unity! Let us endeavour to resist every sin and every effort to sow seeds of discord in the Body of Christ, the Church of God!
