TREASURES IN HEAVEN
Text: Matthew 6:19-34

TREASURES ON EARTH
We are able to understand treasures on earth more easily. The common treasures people seek:
- Paintings of the old masters
- Unique statues that have beautifully crafted
- Rare Jewels (diamonds, pearls etc.)
These are treasures many seek to obtain. Unfortunately, these earthly treasures are available only to the very wealthy. The common man cannot afford any of these treasures!
TREASURES IN HEAVEN
The concept is similar. These are things of value too. They are well-described in this text.
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;
20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21
- These heavenly treasures
a) Moths cannot destroy them
b) Nor rust
c) Nor can thieves steal them
- What is the greatest Treasure of all?
The Kingdom of God (Heaven)!
WHERE THE HEART IS
Where is our heart when it comes to Treasures? Whatever it is that is treasured, the heart would surely be involved! What do we really treasure? Our heart will tell us what it is that we will treasure!
THE THNGS THAT ARE VALUED MORE THAN SILVER OR GOLD
Two may be highlighted. Both are famous texts!
- The Word of God
More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Psalm 19:10
- Our Faith
That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ 1 Peter 1:7
Are these our treasures? May our hearts learn to value these treasures!
