EVERYONE WHO THIRSTS, COME TO THE WATERS
Text: Isaiah 55:1-2

NATURAL THIRST
We have all had experiences of what it means to be thirsty. The need to quench that thirst is natural. Till the thirst is satisfied, the desire to drink remains strong. In the hot seasons in India, many stalls are set up on the roadside and vendors do a roaring trade selling coconut water. The heat is too strong to ignore. The need to quench thirst drives many to seek refreshment!
SPIRITUAL THIRST
How about spiritual thirst? What do we do when it comes to spiritual thirst?
Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters;
And you who have no money, ‘Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight itself in abundance. Isaiah 55:1-2
- A thirst of the Soul
a) There is such a thing as “Soul thirst”
b) Many are not even aware of the thirst of the soul, sadly
- God reaches out to the Soul
a) The Soul needs spiritual food and water
b) God will provide Spiritual food in abundance
- Mistaken needs
a) Many ignore the needs of the Soul
b) Some think that if the body is satisfied all the needs of the Soul are met
c) Thus, many indulge in looking for things that do not truly satisfy
d) They spend money on things that are not bread (for the soul)
e) They spend hard-earned wages on things that do not truly satisfy
LISTENING TO GOD
How important it is to pause for a bit to listen to God speaking to the Soul.
- Listen to Me
a) God seeks to speak to our Soul
b) The Soul needs spiritual nourishment
c) God will meet the needs of the Soul
- Seek the LORD
a) Let us recognise the needs of our Soul
b) Let us seek God and ask Him to feed our Soul abundantly
c) Let us respond to the gracious Call of God humbly
Let us seek the Lord and discover His ways! Walking in the ways of the Lord will bring such wonderful delight to the Soul!
