I WILL TELL OF YOUR MARVELOUS WORKS

Text: Psalm 9
5 January 2014

DEEPENING OUR APPRECIATION

            Every year we see God’s marvelous work in our lives and in our midst. Sometimes we fall into the danger of taking things for granted! Let us determine to have a deeper appreciation of God’s works in 2014! Then His works would truly not be done in vain!

LEARNING VITAL LESSONS

            How may we look at the works of God? Let us ponder how the psalmist David pondered the works of God.

I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart;
I will tell of all Your wondrous works.

I will be glad and rejoice in You;
I will sing praise to Your name. O Most High.      Psalm 9:1-2

1.Noting God’s works with deep gratitude

a) This is where it starts
We must take note of God’s works

b) In Psalm 9
David noted the works of God in two areas:-

 i) In the history of Israel

ii) In his personal life

2.Responding to God’s works whole-heartedly

a) David described His works aptly
God’s works may indeed be described as “marvelous works”
The spirit of appreciation cannot but be noted!

b) Four responses may be highlighted”-

i) Praise with the whole heart

ii) Telling people about God’s marvelous works

iii) Rejoicing in the works of the Lord

iv) Singing songs of praise to the Lord

A SPECIAL CHALLENGE FOR THE NEW YEAR

Let us look forward to cultivating a greater sense of appreciation of God’s works in our life, as the Psalmist David did. Two thoughts may be highlighted:-

  1. Ponder how the Lord would be a refuge to His people     Psalm 9:9
  1. Ponder how the Lord would never forsake His people     Psalm 9:10

Let us look forward to a year where we will see the Lord manifesting Himself as a great and faithful God to His people who love and trust Him.
