1. Not limited to the Old Testament era

2. Very much alive as a concept in the New Testament era

(II) THE MAGNIFICAT

“My soul magnifies the Lord” Luke 1:46

1. A hymn of praise

2. Arising from a soul that has been deeply touched by the Lord

(II) MEDITATION- PERSONAL LIFE

1. Personal Outlook of self

“For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant,for behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.” Luke 1:48

2. Deep personal appreciation

“For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name” Luke 1:49

(III) MEDITATION- LIFE IN GENERAL

1. The mercy of the Lord

“And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation” Luke 1:50

2. The strength of the Lord

a) The proud

“He has shown strength with His arm;He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts” Luke 1:51

b) The mighty

“He has put down the mighty from their thrones…” Luke 1:52a

c) The lowly

“And exalted the lowly” Luke 1:52b

3. The Justice of the Lord

“He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty” Luke 1:53

4. God’s help given to Israel

“He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy,as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His seed forever” Luke 1:55

a) Help sent to Israel

b) Faithfulness of God

c) Remembering His promise to Abraham

(IV) MAGNIFYING THE LORD MUST TRANSLATE IN REJOICING IN HIM

“And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour” Luke 1:47

1. Rejoicing of the spirit

2. Rejoicing in the Lord
