(I) CALL TO MAGNIFY GOD’S NAME
“Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
And let us exalt His name together.” Psalm 34:3
1. Personal conviction
“I will bless the LORD at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the LORD;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.” Psalm 34:1-2
2. Public celebration
“…The humble shall hear of it and be glad.” Psalm 34:2b
“…let us exalt His name together.” Psalm 34:3b
(II) COMPELLING REASONS TO MAGNIFY GOD’S NAME
1. For hearing our prayers
“I sought the LORD, and He heard me…” Psalm 34:4a
“This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him…” Psalm 34:6a
“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears…” Psalm 34:17a
2. For delivering us out of tight situations
a) From fears
“…delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4b
b) From troubles
“…saved him out of all his troubles.” Psalm 34:6
c) From afflictions
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the LORD delivers him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19
3. For His commitment to stand by all who fear him
a) Loving watchful eyes
“The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous…” Psalm 34:15a
b) Gracious Attentive ears
“…His ears are open to their cry.” Psalm 34:15b
c) For His closeness to all who are humble
“The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart…” Psalm 34:18a
d) For His salvation/redemption
“…And saves such as have a contrite spirit.” Psalm 34:18b
e) For the Goodness that is in God
“…the LORD is good…” Psalm 34:8a
(III) CHALLENGES THAT MUST BE GIVEN DUE CONSIDERATION
1. Invitation to experience the reality of God
“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good…” Psalm 34:8a
“The LORD redeems the soul of His servants…” Psalm 34:22
2. Encouragement to trust God
“…Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalm 34:8b
3. Endeavouring to cultivate a great sense of respect for God
“Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.” Psalm 34:11

MANIFOLD DISTRESSES IN LIFE
1. Deep waters
“I sink in deep mire,
where there is no standing;
I have come into deep waters,
Where the floods overflow me” Psalm 69:2
2. Tears
“I am weary with my crying;
My throat is dry;
My eyes fail while I wait for my God” Psalm 69:3
3. Enemies
“Those who hate me without a cause
are more than the hairs of my head;
They are mighty who would destroy me,
Being my enemies wrongfully…” Psalm 69:4
4. Foolishness
“O God, You know my foolishness;
and my sins are not hidden from You” Psalm 69:5
5. Reproach
“Because for Your sake I have borne reproach;
Shame has covered my face” Psalm 69:7
Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up,
And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me” Psalm 69:9
MAINTAINING FAITH IN GOD
1. Choosing to Pray
“But as for me, my prayer is to You…” Psalm 69:13
2. Exercising Trust
“O LORD, in the acceptable time;
O God, in the multitude of Your mercy,
Hear me in the truth of Your salvation” Psalm 69:13b
3. Pleading the lovingkindness of God
“Hear me, O LORD, for Your lovingkindness is good;
Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies” Psalm 69:16
MAGNIFYING THE LORD WITH THANKSGIVING
1. Praising God
“I will praise the name of God with a song” Psalm 69:30a
2. Magnifying God
“And will magnifying Him with thanksgiving” Psalm 69:30b
3. Pleasing God
“This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bull…” Psalm 69:31a
