"Let them put a clean turban on his head"

Text: Zechariah 3:5

AN ADDITIONAL GENTLE WORD

The word of the LORD God was full of power and authority. The Angel of the LORD added a gentle word.

“And I said, ‘Let them put a clean turban on his head.’
So they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the clothes on him.
And the Angel of the LORD stood by.”
Zechariah 3:5

1. Different personal pronouns used

a) “He answered and spoke” (Third person singular) Zechariah 3:4
This would be from the LORD God, the supreme Judge.
b) “And I said” (First person singular)
There was a change. This would refer to the Angel of the LORD.

2. “And I said, ‘Let them put a clean turban on his head.'”

a) The turban was the crowning touch.
b) This was the last piece of the rich garments put on the high priest.
c) This last gentle word came from the Angel of the LORD:
i) It signified grace.
ii) It also expressed love.

3. The dressing of the high priest

a) The garments were elaborate.
b) He would need assistance to put on each piece of the priestly robes.
c) The angels of the LORD attended to Joshua.

4. “And the Angel of the LORD stood by”

a) He was there to supervise and oversee.
b) He was there to give continual support.
c) His presence spoke volumes.

Joshua need never be afraid of the attacks of Satan the Adversary.
