"Many nations shall be joined to the LORD"
Text: Zechariah 2:11
THE GROWTH OF A NATION
Developing a nation is no small task! It is even more challenging when the nation has to build after the land had been destroyed! Rebuilding of Israel was a daunting task to the remnant. They would not have a king to lead them!
A GLIMPSE OF WHAT GOD WOULD DO
The LORD knew all the fears and frustrations of the people as they thought about rebuilding Israel. This was what He said to them to bring encouragement to the heart.
“Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day,
and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst.
Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you.”
Zechariah 2:11
1. “Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day”
a) Israel would have help.
b) It would not need to feel that the task was a hopeless one.
c) The Lord promised the help of “many nations”.
i) These would be friendly to Israel.
ii) They would contribute significantly to nation-building.
2. “Shall be joined to the LORD in that day”
a) Even more significantly, they would be “joined to the LORD”.
b) They would share the same faith.
c) They would help Israel because of a shared faith relationship.
3. “And they shall become My people”
a) Why would these nations help Israel?
b) They would offer help because they had become the LORD’S people.
4. “And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you.”
a) This is added assurance.
b) The Lord’s personal Presence would be felt and seen in practical ways!
