Zechariah
"The LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem"
Text: Zechariah 12:8
SPECIAL WATCH OVER JERUSALEM
The Lord gave a special word of promise with reference to Jerusalem.
“The LORD will save the tents of Judah first,
so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem
shall not become greater than that of Judah.
In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David,
and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the LORD before them.
It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.”
Zechariah 12:7-9
1. The Lord’s deliverance promised
a) He will save the tents of Judah first.
b) He will of course deliver Jerusalem as well.
c) There will be the glory of the Lord evidenced:
i) Glory of the house of David.
ii) Glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
iii) There would be no need to envy each other foolishly.
2. What about those who are feeble?
a) Not everyone is born with physical strength.
b) There are some who are weak and feeble.
c) The feeble would become like David.
That was an amazing promise from the LORD.
3. The house of David
a) It would become like God.
Especially with reference with power and might in battle.
b) It would be like the Angel of the LORD before them.
This was another amazing promise from the LORD.
4. The LORD would destroy all who seek to attack and hurt Jerusalem
The intentions of the wicked nations would be thwarted by God Himself!
