Day 128

"Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place"

Text: Zechariah 12:6

A WONDERFUL COMMITMENT FROM GOD

The LORD was directly involved in battling the enemy. He was also wonderfully involved in helping the leader and the people in Jerusalem and Judah.

“In that day I will make the governors of Judah like a firepan in the woodpile,
and like a fiery torch in the sheaves;
they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left,
but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place—Jerusalem.”
Zechariah 12:6

1. Help given to the governors of Judah

a) The LORD’s commitment:
i) He would strengthen the governors.
ii) He would make them like a firepan in the woodpile.
They would burn up the woodpile in no time at all.
iii) They would be like fiery torches among the sheaves.
They would burn the sheaves easily.
b) The LORD assures victory
i) Judah would devour all their enemies.
Just as fire would devour woodpiles and sheaves.
ii) There were many enemies.
iii) They were so numerous they were described as being on the right hand and on the left.

2. A great vision for Jerusalem

a) Jerusalem would not fall into enemies’ hands anymore.
b) The city would be inhabited once again.
c) The Lord’s own people would live safely in their own place.
d) Jerusalem would not be conquered by enemies again.

A PROPHETIC VISION

Jerusalem would have the LORD watching over it faithfully. He would give it full protection!
