"For we ourselves were also once foolish..."

Text: Titus 3:3

REMEMBERING OUR PAST SINFUL WAYS

Thank God for our salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank God that in this salvation given to us it includes full and total forgiveness of our sins. Yet we will never be able to forget our past sinful ways.

“For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived,
serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy,
hateful and hating one another.”
Titus 3:3

1. “For we ourselves were also once…”

a) Paul included himself.
b) He never forgot what he was like in the past!

2. Past sinful ways

a) “Foolish”
i) Ignorant
ii) Senseless
b) “Disobedient”
i) The essence is “rebellion”.
ii) Defiance of authority.
c) “Deceived”
i) Deceived by people
ii) Gullibility
d) “Serving various lusts and pleasures”
i) Literally it means being enslaved.
ii) Hedonism is in mind.
e) “Living in malice and envy”
i) Evil is in mind.
ii) It can express itself in great envy.
f) “Hateful and hating one another”
i) Hatred fills the heart.
ii) It expressed itself in hateful activities.

Forgiveness of our past sinful ways must motivate us to live well for the Lord!
