"The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses..."
Text: Romans 8:26
THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN OUR LIFE
The ministry of the Spirit of God is as extensive as that of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us recall some of the things that the Holy Spirit does in the life of the believer. Eight things were singled out for specific mention!
1. He sets us free from the law of sin (Romans 8:2)
2. He indwells the believer (Romans 8:9)
3. He gives life to our mortal bodies (Romans 8:11)
4. He enables us to put to death the deeds of the body (Romans 8:13)
5. He leads us throughout life (Romans 8:14)
6. He helps us relate to God the Father (Romans 8:15)
7. He bears witness with our spirit that we are God’s children indeed (Romans 8:16)
8. He enables us to bear firstfruits (Romans 8:23)
SPECIAL MINISTRY IN THE REALM OF PRAYER
The Spirit of God fulfills yet another vital ministry in the life of the believer. Paul states this very clearly in the following text.
“Likewise the Spirit also helps us in our weaknesses.
For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought,
but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings
which cannot be uttered.”
Romans 8:26
