But now made manifest"

Text: Romans 16:26

IF GOD HAD NOT REVEALED THE MYSTERY OF THE GOSPEL

Would man have been able to uncover the mystery of God all on his own? Paul in his letter to the Corinthians had this to say.

“Where is the wise? Where is the scribe?
Where is the disputer of this age?
Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
For since in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom
did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness
of the message preached to save those who believe.”
1 Corinthians 1:20-21

1. The wisdom of the world could never have discovered and obtained salvation.

2. In the wisdom of God salvation would be obtained only through the Gospel message.

a) Knowledge of the Gospel of Christ.

b) Faith in Christ would also be required.

THE MANIFESTATION OF THE MYSTERY OF GOD

In God’s great grace and mercy, the mystery of the Gospel was finally revealed!

“But now made manifest, and by the prophetic
Scriptures made known to all nations”
Romans 16:26a

1. But now made manifest

Paul wrote a powerful statement on the subject of manifestation of the Gospel in the following text.

“But has in due time manifested His word through preaching,
which was committed to me according to the commandment
of God our Saviour.”
Titus 1:3

2. And by the prophetic Scriptures made known

a) The prophetic Scriptures contained a rich vein of gospel truths (Cf. Isaiah 40-66).
b) A careful study of the prophetic Scriptures and the gospel Paul espoused would bring about a deep appreciation of the manifestation of the mystery of God

3. To the nations

The Gentiles were in mind even as Paul wrote this word! His desire was to proclaim the Gospel of Christ to them!
