"Till we have sealed the servants of God"

Text: Revelation 7:3

THE SEALING OF GOD’ S SERVANTS

John saw an angel coming from the East. He carried a seal from the living God. He had a message from God to the four angels holding back the winds.

“Then I saw another angel ascending from the east,
having the seal of the living God.
And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels
to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, saying,
‘Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees
till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.'”
Revelation 7:2-3

1. The Four Angels of God.

a) The Four Angels were assigned the task of holding back the mighty winds.

b) These may be compared to the Four Heavenly spirits who were watching
over the affairs of men on the earth.

c) They were waiting for orders from God.

2. An angel was sent with a message for the Four Angels.

a) He cried out authoritatively to the Four Angels.

b) The Four Angels had much authority and power.

i) They could harm the earth.

ii) They could mete out punishment on the wicked on earth.

iii) They had authority from God Himself.

3. The message from God to the Four Angels.

a) They must do no harm against the following:

i) The earth

ii) The sea

iii) The trees

b) Their punitive work would have to wait for a while.

4. A special work was planned.

a) God had a special plan for His faithful servants.

b) They would be given a special seal on their foreheads.

c) This is to mark them as belonging to God.

d) Till all the elect servants have been sealed, the Four Angels must hold back.

e) The seal on the forehead.

i) It may not be visible to people in general.

ii) But the Four Angels would be able to see them.

iii) Their punitive power would not fall upon those who are sealed.
