"When He opened the fourth seal"

Text: Revelation 6:7

THE FOURTH SEAL OPENED

The Lamb of God opened up the fourth seal. The fourth living creature kindly related to John and invited him to witness the opening of the fourth seal.

“When He opened the fourth seal,
I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying,
‘Come and see.’
So I looked, and behold, a pale horse.
And the name of him who sat on it was Death,
and Hades followed with him.
And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth,
to kill with sword, with hunger,
with death, and by the beasts of the earth.”
Revelation 6:7-8

1. The living creatures.

a) They were mighty angels who stood in the presence of God.

b) The fourth living creature said to John, “Come and see”.

c) John was a guest and he had to be invited to every event that took place in heaven.

d) John was not presumptuous in any way but grateful and humble he was invited to witness the opening of each seal of the scroll of God.

2. The Fourth Horse.

a) It was a Pale Horse.

b) The name of the rider was Death.

c) Together the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse would take away peace from the earth.

d) Hades followed close behind.

3. Divine permission was given.

a) They (Death and Hades) were given “power”.

b) They had authority to smite and kill one fourth of the earth.

c) This is a sobering reality.

4. Their power to kill described.

a) To kill by the sword.

b) To kill by hunger.

c) To kill by death.

d) To be killed by the beasts of the earth.
