Revelation
"And the Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!'"
Text: Revelation 22:17
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE LORD’S RETURN
The Lord Jesus gave many words of assurance that He would return. Let the faithful respond with an expression of longing for the Return of the Lord Jesus!
“‘I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches.
I am the Root and the Offspring of David,
the Bright and Morning Star.’
And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’
And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’
And let him who thirsts come.
Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”
Revelation 22:16-17
1. Assurance from the Lord Jesus.
a) He is indeed the Saviour, the Lord Jesus.
b) He is the Root and Offspring of David (Isaiah 11:1).
c) The Bright and Morning Star (2 Peter 1:19).
d) These statements should cause us to take heart and to have full trust in the Lord Jesus.
2. The angels of God.
a) There are many references to angels in the Book of Revelation.
b) A quick review.
i) The Four Living Creatures (Cherubim).
ii) The Angels that poured out the Seven Bowls of wrath.
iii) The guiding angel that was sent to teach the Apostle John.
iv) Each word spoken was a testimony to the Lord Jesus and His Return.
3. Appropriate Response.
a) The Spirit of God declares, “Come!” (Return).
b) The Bride (The church) also says “Come!” This is a humble and heartfelt plea.
4. Invitation to all who are spiritually thirsty.
a) They are invited to drink from the Water of Life.
b) Anyone who has any desire to come to the Lord will not be denied.
c) The hour is late and yet the Invitation to find eternal life is still offered freely.
d) May there be appropriate and grateful response to the Lord’s offer of the Water of Life.
