Revelation
"I am coming quickly"
Text: Revelation 22:12
THE PROMISE OF THE LORD JESUS
Many are impatient for the 2nd Coming of the Lord Jesus. Others are doubtful because thousands of years have gone by and the Lord has not returned. The Lord gives us a strong word of assurance of His Return.
“And behold, I am coming quickly,
and My reward is with Me,
to give to every one according to his work.
I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the Beginning and the End,
the First and the Last.”
Revelation 22:12-13
1. “And behold, I am coming quickly”
a) This is a word of assurance.
b) The Lord will return as He has promised.
c) We learn patience and perseverance as we wait for the Lord’s Return.
2. The word “quickly”.
a) It is often misunderstood.
b) The Apostle Peter reminds us that a thousand years is but a day to the Lord
(2 Peter 3:8).
c) The Lord will return when all things are fulfilled in order.
3. The Lord’s Reward.
a) When the Lord Returns, He will reward His faithful servants.
b) Each one will receive his reward, according to all that he has done in his life.
c) While we await the Lord’s Return.
i) Let us put our house in order.
ii) Let us return to the Lord if we have strayed.
iii) Let us serve faithfully if we have been slack.
iv) Let us encourage each other to wait for the Lord’s Return with faith and love.
4. Drawing Encouragement.
a) We may draw much encouragement from the following words of the Lord Jesus.
b) He declares with great confidence and assurance:
i) “I am the Alpha and the Omega”
ii) “The Beginning and the End”
iii) “The First and the Last”
c) These three Statements share one single powerful truth.
d) What the Lord has begun, He will complete it.
e) Let us hold fast to this great truth.
f) The Apostle Paul certainly held fast to this great truth.
“Being confident of this very thing,
that He who has begun a good work in you
will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ”
Philippians 1:6
