"Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth"

Text: Revelation 21:1

A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH

This revelation from God was totally refreshing and uplifting. John saw things that seem impossible to understand!

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth,
for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.
Also there was no more sea.
Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem,
coming down out of heaven from God,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
Revelation 21:1-2

1. The first heaven and the first earth.

a) This would be the present world we live in.

b) Both heaven and earth have passed away!

c) A clear evidence would be “no more sea”.

i) The oceans cover about 71% of the earth’s surface.

ii) This does not include the seas and other bodies of water.

d) It is hard to imagine.

i) That they have passed away.

ii) That the seas (oceans) no longer exist.

2. A new heaven and a new earth.

a) God will create:

i) A new heaven.

ii) A new earth.

iii) A “New Jerusalem”.

b) The New Holy City.

i) It will come down from God.

ii) It is compared to a beautiful bride.

iii) It is well adorned for her husband, the Lamb of God.

c) The heart cannot but long for the day when this will be fulfilled!
