"When the thousand years have expired"

Text: Revelation 20:7

THE END OF THE MILLENNIAL REIGN

The Millennial Kingdom was meant to last for just 1000 years. Satan would have served his sentence. Had he repented after having been interred for a millennium?

“Now when the thousand years have expired,
Satan will be released from his prison
and will go out to deceive the nations
which are in the four corners of the earth,
Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle,
whose number is as the sand of the sea.
They went up on the breadth of the earth
and surrounded the camp of the saints
and the beloved city.
And fire came down from God
out of heaven and devoured them.
The devil, who deceived them,
was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone
where the beast and the false prophet are.
And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
Revelation 20:7-10

1. The bottomless pit.

a) The bottomless pit was his prison.

b) It should have been a time for reflection and repentance.

2. The expiry of the prison sentence.

a) Satan had not repented.

b) He went out into the world to deceive the nations.

c) Gog and Magog were mentioned in Ezekiel 38-39.

d) John used their names to refer to the wicked enemies that would rise up against the Lord and against the holy city.

e) The number of people who would rally to Satan is astonishing.

f) Their number is “as the sand of the sea”.

3. A siege was laid against the holy city and Temple.

a) Everyone enjoyed the gold reign of the Lord’s Millennial Kingdom.

b) Satan was not allowed to interfere during the Millennial Kingdom on earth.

c) The evil that was in men’s heart continued to reign even if Satan had not actively tempted them.

4. Fire from God.

a) A great fire came down from heaven.

b) This great fire devoured all their enemies.

c) There was hardly any battle.

5. The lake of fire.

a) Satan would be thrown into the Lake of fire.

b) The Beast and the prophet were already there.

c) They will be lamenting there.

d) They will suffer severely because this came from God.
