"The marriage supper of the Lamb"

Text: Revelation 19:9

CALLED TO THE MARRIAGE SUPPER

Rejoicing in the Lord is the only appropriate response to the Lord’s invitation to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

“Then he said to me,
‘Write: ‘Blessed are those
who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!”
And he said to me,
‘These are the true sayings of God.’
And I fell at his feet to worship him.
But he said to me,
‘See that you do not do that!
I am your fellow servant,
and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus.
Worship God!
For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.'”
Revelation 19:9-10

1. Instruction from the angel of the Lord.

a) This was an angel assigned to teach the Apostle John.

b) He instructed John to write as he explains the visions from the Lord.

2. A pronouncement of blessing.

a) To those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb.

b) This was a glorious invitation from God.

c) All who truly believe in the Lord Jesus are truly blessed.

d) They will be at the Marriage of the Lamb.

3. True sayings of God.

a) The angel of God made this strong affirmation.

b) All that had been revealed by God are “true sayings”.

4. The Apostle John felt overwhelmed.

a) He was awed by what he had seen.

b) He was overwhelmed by the presence of this angel of God.

c) He offered worship.

d) The angel of God forbade John to offer worship in any form!

5. A gentle reminder.

a) Worship must be reserved for God alone.

b) The teaching angel sees himself as a fellow servant of God.

c) He was one of the brethren who have the testimony of the Lord Jesus.

d) The testimony of Jesus.

i) A reference to the life of the Lord Jesus.

ii) Also, a reference to His teaching.

iii) Within His teaching is “the spirit of prophecy”.
