"When they finish their testimony"

Text: Revelation 11:7

THE CONCLUSION OF MINISTRY

The Two Witnesses were given a short ministry of three and a half years to prophesy and to preach. They wielded great power from God as they ministered. Part of that power was utilised for self-protection.

“When they finish their testimony,
the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit
will make war against them,
overcome them, and kill them.
And their dead bodies will lie in the street of
the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt,
where also our Lord was crucified.”
Revelation 11:7-8

1. The completion of their task.

a) They had faithfully served the Lord.

b) They had proclaimed the Gospel.

c) They had also prophesied of the Lord’s Return to earth.

d) They completed their mission with honourable faithfulness.

2. The beast from the bottomless pit.

a) He would arise and make war against the Two Witnesses.

b) The beast could not harm them before their work was done.

c) The Two Witnesses were the targets of the beast from the bottomless pit.

3. The outcome of the war against the Two Witnesses.

a) The beast overcame them.

b) He killed them.

c) This was allowed by God.

d) There was a plan that nobody could see.

e) God had not lost control.

4. The great city.

a) Where did the killing of the Two Witnesses take place?

b) John identified the place.

i) He called it “Sodom” because of so much wickedness.

ii) He also called it “Egypt” for there was great oppression.

iii) This was the city where the Lord was crucified.

iv) Jerusalem was where the murder of the Two Witnesses took place.
